Namaskar!!
Practicing just 5 minutes of Yoga in a digital world for physical and emotional well-being is one way to slow down, appreciate the natural surroundings, and say ‘hello’ to the greatest gifts - our mind and body in this fast-moving world.
The speed of modern life accelerates faster with the technological breakthroughs, Yoga asana is a tool to calm down, relax, and to simply stop and breathe to escape from the stress and anxiety caused by the dramatic speed of the world.
What does Yoga actually mean?
Yoga is a way of being. Yoga literally means union. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root word “yug,” which means to unite. Unite does not mean fingers touching toes or nose touching the knees. It's also not the union of mind and body, although, this is what is said in the yoga community. ‘Union’ means uniting individual consciousness (our individual experience of reality) with Divine consciousness (the essence of truth as perceived when we quiet our five senses and reconnect with the Supreme Self within).
When should we begin practicing Yoga?
Many children have difficulty with sensory integration: body awareness, spatial awareness and motor control. Many benefits are associated with 5-minutes-yoga-yoga-in-digital-world-yoga-for-emotional. Yoga practice gives opportunities for children to practice mindfulness in a non-competitive and nurturing environment. Yoga helps to naturally unwind and get physical activity at the same time. Yoga is more focused on the process that is to simply engage in the activity, no matter the level of physical, social or emotional ability, rather than the end result. As children practice yoga poses, they increase their capacity or improve their skill that allows them to remember and recall performing steps to make a movement happen.
Yoga asanas result in physical benefits such as to increase balance, coordination, flexibility, and strength. Pranayama helps in correct breathing and calming the senses.
Yogic relaxation practices contribute to a more balanced and peaceful state of mind, improving overall well-being. It builds social-emotional skills that help children in reducing impulsive, obsessive, anxiety and over-stimulatory actions and behaviors. It also helps in building focus and concentration!!
Practicing yoga from an early age as children benefits us throughout our lives nurturing our lifelong tradition of physical and emotional well-being. It is a wonderful way as children to discover the joy of movement, relaxation, and self-awareness.
